UCR Center for Catalysis:

New Nanoarchitectures for

Increased Selectivity

Welcome to the web pages of our UCR Center for Catalysis.

Mission and Objectives:

This Center was created in 2014 to bring together the extensive expertise in catalysis and nanotechnology available at the University of California, Riverside in order to optimize our synergies and develop the capability to address the large and complex challenges facing the field of catalysis.

We look forward to the development of a variety of research projects involving members of the UCR Center as well as collaborators from other institutions in academia, national laboratories, and industry, both in the US and abroad.

Research under the umbrella of our UCR Center for Catalysis is expected to provide a unique experience for undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and visiting researchers, who will work on highly interdisciplinary projects, interact with multiple research groups, and be exposed to a variety of scientific skills, including the synthesis and characterization of complex molecular and solid catalysts and the use of novel nanotechnologies.

We will also aim to promote other educational and outreach activities, including seminars, informal scientific gatherings, visits to high schools and colleges, and the development of on-line educational and informational materials.

Initial funding for the creation of this center has been provided by the UCR Research and Economic Development. We are currently exploring additional venues of extramural and industrial financial support.

In the following pages we describe our motivation for the creation of this Center for Catalysis, our aims, and our composition and expertise.

Distinguished Professor of Chemistry
